Things to see in Milan #2

Visiting Milan during Expo 2015 is a great occasion to discover  the classic old local  places, in addition to the brand new areas. This itinerary is deliberately retro, authentic, maybe a little bit trash, but following this advices you should feel at home.

11 AM Coffee and pastries at Pasticceria Marchesi – (via santa maria alla porta 11/a) In a 17th-century building, Marchesi family founded this pastry shop in 1824. Enjoy a real italian breakfast.

12 noon Lunch at De Santis (Corso Magenta) – 210 different kinds of panino, all made with freshly baked bread and selected ingredients. Let’s  choose your sauce or cheese and compose yourself your personal sandwich.

2 PM – Museo della Scienza e della TecnicaYou will be surprised by the modernity of the Leonardo Da Vinci’s sketches representing his machines and projects. The inner cloister also worths a visit, especially during spring time.

4PM From sketches to reality. Since the antique times a lot of people worked to make Milan accessible from the sea through some courses of water. Leonardo Da Vinci also worked on that  canals and even today it is possible to admire the innovative system of dams concieves by him  at the end of 15th century. Nowadays this canals (Navigli) are well knowned for the nightlife as they are full of fashionable bistrot and cocktail bars such as Rebelot, Rita, Elita bar, Ugo and many others…

The last sunday of every month there is an amazing flea market on the main canal (Naviglio Grande).

6 PM Aperitivo at Frizzi e Lazzi (Via Evangelista Torricelli) – This is a place where the locals hang out. Neon light inside and a large courtyard with tables outside for one of the cheapest aperitivo in the neighborhood.

8.30 PM After the last beer at Frizzi you can take a short walk and find Brutto Anatroccolo restaurant (Via Evangelista Torricelli) if you want to spend less than 20 euros! If your budget is higher go to La Madonnina, a typical Milanese restaurant where you can taste a real Cotoletta alla milanese.

10 PM Karaoke Johann Sebastian bar (Ripa di Porta Ticinese, 11) – Don’t worry if you are shy. Angelique will convince you to sing Italian songs and seventies hits with her.
